Club events: Music Showcases

Sylvia Powell previously signed to Deconstruction Records has a distinctive brand of mellow acoustic soul. After spending the last year performing all over the world, Powells welcome return will be showcased at the Cobden, with comparisons being made to Joan Armatrading and Nina Simone, Powell remains very much an artist in her own right.

Abstrakt present:
Psychedelic Guitar Heroes and hot new London band 'The Seen' join forces with the godfather of acoustic Punk 'Dave Russell' for a one-off anarchic showcase.
The Seen are rapidly accumulating a colourful cutting-edge following after their critically acclaimed EP release last year; band member and maverick DJ Dean Thatcher spins eclectic sounds to go.
Dave Russell is a local hero whose highly individual work with music and spoken word has been endorsed by such luminaries as Billy Childish and Michael Horovitz. He has been a pioneer of the avant-garde since the last sixties but right now, his audience is a young one, favouring Dave's rebellious and highly individual stance.
