COBDEN BOOK CLUB:

I have decided following last months discussion that Pi definitely survived in a lifeboat for nearly a year with a large ferocious Tiger called Richard Parker. At least I really want to believe it!

Next months book choice is 'ATONEMENT' by Ian McEwan. Atonement starts out like a classic country house novel. It seems to be all romping upper class girls, cooks and frightfully important Daddy unable to come down from London. But it is a tribute to McEwan's writing that you soon forget that his 13-year-old protagonist is an over-privileged, Mitford-esque, play-writing moppet. And perhaps leaving the reader with suspicions of the protagonist is exactly what McEwan - famed for his forays into the darker side of human nature sets out to do. Tell us what you think on Wednesday 26th.

The book is available from Amazon for only £3.99.
